So this should have been put up a couple weeks ago...but whatever.
So my first adventure inspired by adventure was close to home but none the less interesting.
Where did I go? Meteor Crater! one of the best preserved space junk impact sites on planet Earth. About 50,000 years ago a large(ish) rock cruising around space got caught up Earth's gravitational field and landed in what is today called Arizona. Now for awhile, there were many different explinations as to what meteor crater was. When it was first discovered, the idea of rocks from space hitting earth was not a very well known concept. A gentleman known as Barringer was the first to posit the idea that it was in fact a impact site, this was sometime in the early 1900's. While I was there taking all of it in, I kept on thinking about how many creatures in the surrounding area got the crap scared out of them when this hit, because it had to be loud, spectacular and absolutely terrifying.
When you first walk out and see the crater (which is hard to do by the way, first you walk by a subway, the gift shop, and other distractions which try to get you to buy stuff that seems cool at the time and then in 6 months you are thinking "why did I buy this dumb rock that kind of resembles a hummingbird?") it is amazing. I always knew that it was huge (thats what she said), but really pictures do not do this thing justice. The park rangers are super nice and awesome to talk to. Actually they want to do a star party out there, but more on this later. My point is, Metoer Crater is awesome, and I can not believe I lived so close to it for so many years and never went to go see it.
However, like many American's, my wow factor emotion has a time limit of 15 to 20 min, so after that the amazing meteor crater turns into a big hole in the ground. However, it is a awesome big hole in the ground.
Look at the people in this picture, and then look at the crater! giant right?
Elias! my travel adenvture buddy for the day. He looks like a pirate here. A science loving, no water anywhere around kind of pirate.
On a side note, in the hypothetical scenario of a zombie invasion, I am going to go straight to the visitor center here(pitured above). The place is an absolute fortress and is the highest point around, perfect for seeing incoming zombies. The subway is good to have there also because then you will not run out of food (subway's are everywhere and open at crazy hours, I know they will still be open for buisness even if the world is going crazy).
So, a star party at meteor crater? I think yes.
What is a star party? A star party is when a number of people gather in an area, with lot's of telescope, and spend the night out viewing the mysteries of space and talking about them.
Essentially it is like a gathering of trekkies, but replace the hotel in vegas with beautiful dark skies, and replace the costumes with red lights and laser pointers, and also instead of klingon language, there is astronomy talk. Sounds sweet right?
If this ever gets off the ground, every one of you will know because I will try my absolute hardest to get everyone to show up.

First Blog Post (ever!)
For years now blogs have been increasing in popularity. Just about everyone has one now, there are blogs for fun, for political reasons, traveling, food, fashion, video games, satire, technology, people's cats....you get the point, there is a blog for everything.
This one is not unique, or different, sometimes it might be funny, even interesting, but for the most part, it just is and I quite like that.
I am hoping though that by starting this I will finally get motivated to undertake a task, which, try as I might, I never seem to ever get around to. It is actually very simple, all I want to do in the world is travel, go places, you know...adventure in any way shape or form. Even boring forms. I want it, and I will have it.
What is holding me back? The usual suspects, school and money. Mainly money though. Seriously what normal college student, actually wait, I retract that statement, what normal 18-25 yrs US citizen has, oh I do not know, $3000 to spend on a whim and go to Zanzibar for a year? I am stuck in an inevitable statistic.
I need to go, to travel, to experience, and I think a perfect way to get myself to save money, get going, and do everything I am always thinking about is by making a visual account (visual learner right here) to motivate me.
So, two questions:
1. Who wants to go on a trip?
2. Anyone want to donate money so I can go to China for a few years?
(Just kidding, but seriously, I take Visa, MasterCard and all traveler's checks)
